Real Madrid won their 14th European Cup after defeating Liverpool 1-0 in the 2022 UEFA Champions League final in front of a sold-out Stade de France in Paris.Liverpool got off to a strong start, with Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane both looking dangerous early on. Sadio Mane's close-range attempt was blocked onto the post by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, giving Liverpool the greatest chance of the first half.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, was the first to put the ball in the back of the net. In the final seconds of the first half, Karim Benzema scored. The goal was ruled for offside following a long VAR review.Los Blancos seized the lead through Vinicius Junior on the hour mark after a goalless first half. Federico Valverde's low cross found him unmarked at the far post.

Here are a few things you might have missed over the 90 minutes of a thrilling game in Paris:

#1 Tear gas was used against Liverpool fans prior to the game.Liverpool's match against Real Madrid in the Champions League final was delayed by 36 minutes. Despite queuing outside for more than two hours, Reds fans with tickets were unable to enter the stadium, according to The Athletic.

Andy Kelly, the press officer for Liverpool's academy and women's squad, claimed that fans were subjected to tear gas outside the stadium. Prior to the game, Kelly tweeted the following:"Tear gas has been thrown at fans waiting outside with tickets for a gate that has been closed for no apparent reason. It was a dreadful experience, and it was quite risky. In a civilized society, supporters should not be treated like this. Unacceptable."

The game started with a 15-minute delay. The delay was eventually prolonged, forcing both teams to emerge from the tunnel for a second set of warm-ups before the game. After a 36-minute wait, the players were eventually allowed to compete in the final. The Reds made an official statement during the game, asking a full investigation into the pre-match crowd concerns.

Real Madrid fans give Rafael Nadal, the world's number two tennis player, a standing ovation.Real Madrid fans erupted in applause when tennis superstar Rafael Nadal was seen on the big screen prior to kick-off. It's worth noting that Nadal is a huge Los Blancos fan who traveled to the Stade de France to show his support for the Spanish club.Rafael Nadal is presently competing in the Roland Garros 2022 in Paris (French Open). This time around, the 35-year-old Spaniard is aiming for his 14th French Open victory.

Tomorrow, May 29th, Nadal will face Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Round of 16 at the French Open. That did not, however, prevent him from cheering on Real Madrid in the Champions League final versus Liverpool.

In the first half, #3 Ibrahima Konate made an outstanding challenge on Vinicius. When Ibrahima Konate was named to the starting XI instead of Joel Matip, Liverpool fans were concerned. However, after his successful challenge on Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior, those fears were immediately dismissed.

On the right side of the Reds' defense, the Brazilian teenager was looking to make an impact. Vinicius attempted to dribble the ball into the area, but Konate halted his initial move and was eventually outmuscled by the French U-21 international, who won the ball back.Ibrahima Konate joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga last summer. Prior to the Champions League final, the 23-year-old defender made 28 appearances for the Reds.

In the last minutes, Virgil van Dijk played as a temporary centre-forward.In the waning minutes of the game, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told defender Virgil van Dijk to play as a makeshift attacker. Despite the presence of Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane on the pitch, the Reds continue to struggle.

Due to his height and physicality, Virgil van Dijk poses a threat from set-pieces, which is why Klopp has him as a target-man.

In the end, the experiment failed, as Real Madrid won the final 1-0.

Real Madrid's #5 legend Raul consoles Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool. As he and his team watched their opponents raise the Champions League trophy, former Real Madrid player Raul consoled Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. Before clapping their opponents and heading back into the tunnel, the entire Liverpool squad waited for Los Blancos to arrive on the pitch to take the trophy.

Real Madrid has now defeated Liverpool in two Champions League finals in recent years. In the 2018 final, Jurgen Klopp's side defeated them as well.
