Liverpool have been advised not to enhance their current offer to Mohamed Salah, with Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele emerging as a possible transfer target.

Ousmane Dembele, a Barcelona contract rebel, has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Liverpool had a fantastic season under Jurgen Klopp, but despite falling up short in the Premier League title fight, the Reds will be looking to improve next year.

The Reds have been connected with a slew of prospective signings since before Saturday night's dramatic fight with Real Madrid in the Champions League final - and speculation will only intensify now that Liverpool's season is finally over.

Given the continued rumours around Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the coming weeks, it might be an exciting summer in Liverpool's transfer market. Here, Mirror Football examines all of the most recent Liverpool transfer rumours...

Ousmane Dembele has been contacted by the Reds.

According to a fresh rumor, Barcelona contract rebel Ousmane Dembele has yet to decide on his future, and Anfield has emerged as a possible destination for the 25-year-old.

Liverpool have 'finally contacted' Dembele's entourage, according to SPORT, to'sound out' the attacker, who is set to become a free agent at the end of next month. According to the report, Chelsea and Barcelona are both keeping an eye on Dembele's position.

According to the source, Liverpool are interested in signing Dembele since it is'more than likely' that Mane will join Bayern Munich this summer, while Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino is also on the transfer list. Dembele, who joined Barcelona for a record £105 million in 2017, is also being pursued by Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool has been urged to stick to their guns when it comes to Salah.

Mohamed Salah and Liverpool are still negotiating a new contract.

Mohamed Salah and Liverpool are still negotiating a new contract.

James, on the other hand, is certain that his former club should not increase their existing offer, even if it means Salah would go for nothing next summer. "As a Liverpool supporter, you want them to stay," James told GOAL when asked about Salah and Mane's position. You want to keep your top players, and they have proven to be two of Liverpool's best.

"I believe the Liverpool model and recruitment technique is that they expect the players to arrive at the same time as they expect them to leave. With the latter, they'll be looking ahead to the next signing, such as [Luis] Diaz in January. They'll have something in place already, so you'll have to focus on the individual.

A recent report claims that Jurgen Klopp's side and Real Madrid are the frontrunners in the fight to acquire Darwin Nunez, giving Liverpool a lifeline in their hunt of a new forward.

The Reds and Real are 'two of the key candidates' in the race to sign the coveted Benfica striker, according to Portuguese daily Record, via SportWitness, and the outcome of the Champions League final might have a huge impact on Nunez's future.

Nunez, who has 34 goals in 41 games for Portugal, is scheduled to leave in the summer. Benfica are expected to want roughly €100 million (£85 million) for their best player, according to reports, and his future will be decided 'after the Champions League final.'
