This summer, Alonso is at the top of Barcelona's transfer want list. The Catalan club is looking to bolster the left back position presently occupied by Jordi Alba. Barcelona has opted to pursue Marcos Alonso after exploring all other possibilities and taking into account the club's financial troubles.
One of the deal's main selling elements is the Spaniard's desire to return to his homeland. Alonso's agent, aware of the footballer's desire to play in his homeland, has informed his present club, Chelsea, that he would like to go.
Due to the difficult situation Chelsea found themselves in prior to the game, it was not an easy task. The club's takeover by Todd Boehly has been verified. Throughout the process, though, Alonso and Barcelona have been on the same page. So much so that, according to Fabrizio Romano, the player and the La Liga club have reached an agreement that will see him wear a Barcelona shirt next season.
More information has been released by The Athletic, indicating that Alonso is getting closer to leaving Stamford Bridge. Thomas Tuchel is said to have accepted the Spaniard's departure because he believes Emerson Palmieri and Ben Chilwell, who will return following a loan spell at Lyon, will suffice. Last season, he was absent for the majority of the season due to injury.
Whatever happens this summer, and whatever their grand transfer strategy is, Chelsea's new owners will undoubtedly be looking to improve their attacking capabilities.
It won't be simple – and it will depend on the offers they receive for the players they already have – but if they can, Thomas Tuchel will undoubtedly be bolstered up front.
Cristopher Nkunku, the Bundesliga's breakout goal and assist monster of the year, should be on their radar.
According to Fabrizio Romano's newest Chelsea piece on Caughtoffside, the RB Leipzig midfielder could be moved this summer, but only if his team receives a "crazy offer.
No matter how hard Todd Boehly tries this summer to impress, his consortium does not appear to be the type to make "crazy proposals." We hope we're wrong, but this seems like a reach for them unless they make some unexpectedly large sales.
