Manchester United finished the previous season in sixth place in the Premier League. The Red Devils are expected to bolster their team over the summer in preparation for the forthcoming season.

Meanwhile, Frank McAvennie predicts that Cristiano Ronaldo will seek a large transfer fee this summer. Kevin Campbell, on the other hand, believes Raphael Varane will improve next season.

Let's take a look at some of the main Manchester United transfer stories from May 30, 2022.

Cristiano Ronaldo will want massive additions this summer, according to Frank McAvennie.

Cristiano Ronaldo will want massive additions ahead of the new season, according to former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie. Last season, the Portuguese striker was a rare bright spot in a dreadful Manchester United campaign, netting 24 goals in 38 games.

McAvennie said Football Insider that Ten Hag, the new manager, needs to speak with Ronaldo and get him on the same page as him.

"The first thing he (Ten Hag) has to do is rally the troops behind him. Ronaldo is the most important player in the locker room, and he wants to keep him. He needs to talk to him right now, and he may have already done so on Zoom. He needs to track him down because he's the type of player you need on your corner."

He continued, "

"Anthony Martial and those types of players will be back in the first team shortly." He needs to get them out of there as soon as possible. He'll need to bring in some major names. Let's face it, Manchester United is still one of the most powerful clubs in the world. As a result, they must be on the lookout for these major players. That is something Ronaldo will expect. He needs people in his life who share his drive — he's a winner."

Raphael Varane is expected to improve next season, according to Kevin Campbell.

Kevin Campbell, a former Arsenal striker, believes Raphael Varane will regain his form next season. Last summer, the Frenchman joined Manchester United from Real Madrid, but has failed to settle in the Premier League.

Varane was hampered by a terrible midfield ahead of him, according to Campbell, who spoke to Football Insider.

"At times, centre-backs require the assistance of a midfielder. The midfield shields them a lot of the time. This season, Man United's midfield has been abysmal. A single player cannot make a significant impact on the squad. Ronaldo had a fantastic season, but he couldn't stem the rot. Under Erik ten Hag, United will improve next season. Varane should also improve significantly. With a year under his belt, he'll be a better player. They'll be a lot better next season in general."

Manchester United will sell Anthony Martial, according to Frank McAvennie.

Manchester United is expected to sell Anthony Martial this summer, according to Frank McAvennie.

After joining Sevilla in January, the Frenchman had a dismal six-month loan spell with them. In 12 outings, the 26-year-old scored just once.

McAvennie told Football Insider that the Red Devils might send him out on loan or transfer him for a bargain.

"I'm very sure Martial will depart. So, who wants to sign him, if I say so? He left Manchester United for a reason and moved to Spain. He didn't do much over there, so I don't expect a long line of clubs to attempt to sign him."

He went on to say:

"I told them they'd have to deal with this." They want to get rid of every single one of these players, but no one is willing to sign them. It may be necessary to take out a loan or sell the property at a significant discount. I don't think Martial will be able to force his way back in. He's never done it properly."
