The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has encouraged individuals to be cautious in their comments on the Nkoranza disturbances so as not to disrupt the community's peace and security.

According to a statement signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwesi Ofori, Director-General, Public Affairs, GPS, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, the investigation into the matter is ongoing, and the Police will inform the families of the deceased and the general public as soon as the investigations are completed.

"Following Albert Donkor's death in an anti-robbery operation, the Regional Police Commander engaged the family, traditional authorities, opinion leaders, and the young to exhibit restraint as Police investigated the matter," it stated.

According to the statement, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), spoke with the deceased's family over the phone and told them that the incident will be thoroughly investigated.

Despite the fact that all of these contacts had been completed and an investigation had begun, the youngsters stormed police stations and destroyed police property, according to the report.

The IGP despatched a high-profile team led by the Director-General Administration to offer strategic direction for the continuing operation to restore law and order in Nkoranza and its surrounds, according to the statement.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) have both begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding Albert Donkor's death, according to the statement.

According to the statement, the inquiry has been expanded to include the attacks on the police station and riots in town, which resulted in Victor Owusu's death and the injury of others.

Ballistics specialists have been dispatched to Nkoranza to assist with the inquiry, according to the report.

According to the statement, all of the families had been contacted and were cooperating with the police investigation by providing statements and other information.

Clinical psychologists had been assigned to provide psychological assistance to police officers and their families, as well as the relatives of the deceased, according to the report.

While the investigations were ongoing, the IGP and certain members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) visited Nkoranza to observe the situation on the ground, according to the statement.

According to the report, the IGP and his staff requested that the families collaborate with the police to get a postmortem done on the dead as soon as possible in order to speed up the investigation.

According to the statement, the Police Administration has redesigned the Service's communication strategy as part of its reform program, with the hope that people would come to appreciate and comprehend the changes over time.

"We know it won't be easy, but we'll keep going because it's the right thing to do." Under the new policy, we will provide remarks on matters as they arise, providing the public with accurate information."

"In this aspect, we are delaying our announcement until we get more reliable information." In this regard, we will wait until we have reliable information before releasing it to the public in a way that will not jeopardize any ongoing inquiry," it stated.

The police were also attentive to the cultural setting in which they operated, according to the statement, and as a consequence, they made sure that all impacted families were notified before remarks were made public.

"In accordance with our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), we provide information on cases as they occur until the subject is brought before the court, after which we discontinue commenting on it as long as it does not violate the legal process."

"As a result, we will not participate in speculative problems in the public arena on a regular basis."
