*BIMOBAS IN NATIONAL FOOTBALL SPORTS, THE STORY OF YENNUBE VIDA*

News commentary by _Gordon K. Lambon_

The population of Bimobas in Ghana is estimated at 99,673 people. They are mentioned in every aspect of life ranging from academia to Agriculture. One of the few areas this small but well human resourced ethnic group is not mentioned is sports especially football. It appeared the highest a bimoba person could go was inter-schools football tournament until quite recently.

Various individual attempts have been made to push young talents into football but no positive testimonies can be shared in this regard.

Today I want to take you through a story of a young talented beautiful bimoba/moba lady by name *Yennube Vida*

*Yennube* 26 was born in Bimbagu in Bunkpurugu/Nakpanduri District of the North East Region. When yennube was 4years her parents relocated and settled with her at Goaso in the Ahafo region where she had her basic and secondary education. *Yennube* developed the love to play football when she was in class 4. She played for her school and inter-zonals tournaments. Due to her passion and love for football she played up to women division 1 league and stopped due to lack of support from both within and outside

*Yennube* returned home after her disappointment but due to her passion and love for sports she refused to give up on her dream and so she decided to become a referee a decision her mom did not support but later allowed her to pursue her dream. In 2015 Yennube decided to join the referees course to be trained as professional referee. She testified that it wasn't easy for her when she started the course because there was no support from anywhere and even the money to pay for her registration and mock fees was a problem. She was rescued by one of the senior referees who saw the passion and determination in her. According to Yennube the senior referee voluntarily paid her registration and mock fees to enable her complete her course. After completion Yennube started officiating in the men division 3 league, she later went for her regional course and wrote her second exams for class 2, Yennube and her colleagues went to run for regional test and she passed and was revommended by the regional chairman to the national chairman. She finally took part in the national test which she passed with distinction at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi. Now Yennube is a class one referee officiating for the women Premier league and she is also a member of FIFA elite referees.

She also trains young referees who have passion for officiation.

Yennube's dream is half realised but she is still working hard to become one of the best female referees in Africa and beyond.

Yennube is looking forward to train other young ladies who have passion and love for football and football officiation.
