Professor Joseph Osafo, the head of psychology at the University of Ghana, has warned the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to be serious about breaking the eight-year rule.

The NPP's "breaking the eight" strategy aims to keep power in 2025, breaking the Fourth Republic's eight-year cycle of governments.

Prof. Joseph Osafo, speaking on Peace FM's "kokrokoo" morning show, urged the party to keep focused on their vision and let it become a reality.

He said; "Breaking the eight shouldn't just be a token gesture. We'll have to wait for it to translate into the real eight. We know they'll face obstacles, but that's the beauty of the human brain and its ability to persevere in the face of adversity. When you're faced with a problem, you're more likely to come up with new ideas."

"Breaking the eight takes new thinking," the senior psychologist said, adding, "and I will continue to urge and challenge them to embrace that new thinking and look at what will assist the party go forward."
