If you've been paying attention to both conventional and social media this month, you've probably seen that the Absa Bank National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) competition is getting a lot of attention thanks to the ongoing regional finals taking place around the nation.
The NSMQ has unquestionably raised the power of the Ghanaian student to negotiate complicated and knotty scientific problems since it initially achieved notoriety on television over four decades ago, and has produced a number of luminaries in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Apart from football, the competition is one of the few events in Ghana that has the ability to bring the entire country together in strange and unique ways.
For the bulk of Ghanaians who have gone through the secondary school system, banter is always pleasant and therapeutic. Corporate Ghana recognized a chance to increase brand awareness and exposure and joined in through sponsorships.
However, three years ago, Absa Bank Ghana stepped in as the competition's lead sponsor and completely changed the game. Apart from acquiring brand power and positioning as a result of its national competition affiliation, it also implemented a number of dynamic initiatives to embed the brand.
Absa Bank, for example, saw the cooperation as a method to empower and encourage the country's widespread acceptance and practice of STEM education. It was also a method of emphasizing the bank's position in society outside of its primary banking operation.
The Absa Money Zone, which awards participating schools with various cash prizes during the quarter-final, semi-final, and grand-final phases of the national championship, was also launched by Absa Bank. This was accomplished by encouraging kids to investigate and present their unique ideas at the Sci-Tech Fair & Innovation Challenge. The festival's Mentorship sessions, on the other hand,
The NSMQ has also expanded with the addition of regional championships, which aim to broaden coverage and participation to a large number of schools around the country. These schools will compete against the finest in their areas, including the top-ranked schools who will be automatically included into the national competition based on their previous year's performance.
The Greater Accra final will take place on Saturday, May 28th, 2022, to conclude this year's regional championships. The students' apparent clamor and eagerness to register bank accounts with Absa Bank is giving a fresh dimension to these activities. The majority are enthusiastic about the investing and financial education provided by the bank throughout the sessions, as well as the opportunity to acquire their own bank account.
