In the aftermath of Real Madrid's Champions League triumph against Liverpool, the Real Madrid midfielder stormed out of an interview, and he has now explained why.
Toni Kroos, a Real Madrid midfielder, has admitted he was 'p***** off' with a journalist, prompting him to walk out of an interview after Real Madrid's Champions League victory against Liverpool.
In the aftermath of Real's 14th European title, the playmaker was interviewed on the pitch by a German broadcaster, but the line of questions did not go the as it was intended.
When asked whether he was taking the victory for granted and if he was shocked that Real was placed under pressure by Liverpool, Kroos snarled at the journalist and stormed away. "You have 90 minutes to think about logical issues," he explained. Then you proceed to ask me two s****y questions. That's insane."
"It's unsurprising that you have problems with Liverpool. What exactly is the question? We're not in a group match; we're in the final of the Champions League."
He went on to say: "It's a disaster. Extremely, really terrible. You begin by asking three negative questions. You're from Germany, as you well know."
Now that the dust has settled on Real's victory at the Stade de France, Kroos has spoken out about what prompted his surprise reaction. He expressed his displeasure with the journalists' line of enquiry on the Einfach mal luppen podcast, which he co-hosted with his brother Felix.
He stated, " "'How did you watch the game?' you might enquire. From the first minute until the 90th minute, I wouldn't say we pushed them into the wall.
"I'll be the first to admit it was a tight game, and Liverpool had opportunities." more. But, as has been the case in recent months, we won the game. Instead, I was hoping to hear that we had won unfairly. In a final, I don't give a damn if you lose or win.
"I was just pissed off at the moment. I was irritated with him. Naturally, we had to go through two or three pressure periods, which I informed him about when he posed the question. But that's to be expected.
"What do you think you're going to get?" That we completely dominate Liverpool for 90 minutes? They're a world-class group of individuals. We knew we had to beat them, and we did."
In the end, Vinicius Jr's second-half goal was enough for Real to win in the French capital, albeit with the help of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who made a series of world-class saves.
Kroos, 32, played the entire 90 minutes of the final, propelling himself win his fifth Champions League title.
