In order to increase local tourism, the Ministry of Tourist and Creative Arts is being asked to collaborate with tourism companies in finding and documenting some forgotten stories in Ghana's historic cities and villages.

According to the Chiefs and People of Kwahu, their town is known for its Easter celebrations, but few people are aware of the history of the traditional setup and the contributions of certain notable people, including priests, in making Kwahu renowned.

Opanin Akuamoah, Chief of Staff at the Kwahu Obomeng Palace, told Adom News at a ceremony to unveil Okomfo Atia Yaw's statue that Komfo Atia Yaw was an unseen figure in Obomeng's early years.

Only those with spiritual sight are thought to be able to see him physically, although he is claimed to appear to regular people in the guise of an umbrella whenever he is summoned in a time of need. He was a warrior who also saved many people from robberies.

The presence of the Odwen tree in front of the current Obomeng Palace is noteworthy in Obomeng history.

The tree is reported to have sprung from his walking stick, which he planted over 20 years ago.

For the locals, the tree's leaves are said to be useful in curing stomach sickness.

He went across all of Kwahu's communities to proclaim his death and tell everyone who could see him that he was dying.  Kwaku Ernest, a spokesperson for Eliza Travel and Tours, said his company is interested in assisting in the documentation and exhibition of the myriad hidden stories that fuel local tourism.

He explained that the goal of the effort is to learn about the history of traditional places and to recognize notable people who helped to establish them.

To boost local tourism, a monument to such remarkable persons would be created.

Nana Effa Opinamang ll, Chief of Obomeng, claimed Kwahu has several undiscovered water falls and other tourism attractions.

He stated that they are constructing the world's largest private shooting range, where individuals may learn to shoot and participate in the sport.

He urged stakeholders to invest in local tourism to help the economy grow.
