Having enjoyed a lot of success by placing their faith in youth recently, Barcelona are focusing their transfer strategy on continuing to invest in young talents with potential heading into the summer.
The Blaugrana have already secured the signings of Pablo Torre from Racing Santander and Emre Demir from Kayserispor, while they continue to remain on the lookout for more youth prospects that can be brought in and groomed at the club.
According to German publication SPORT1, Barcelona are plotting a raid on German champions Bayern Munich for the signing of 16-year-old midfield prodigy Kenan Yildiz.
The youngster has been with Die Roten since 2012 when he joined their academy from the Regensburg youth setup. He has enjoyed a steady progression through the ranks at the Bavarian outfit.
Despite being just 16 years of age, Yildiz has already earned promotion to the Bayern Munich Under-19 setup. In the season gone by, he featured in 20 matches across all youth teams and competitions, contributing with six goals and eight assists in the process.
An attacking midfielder by trade, the Turkish Under-17 international is capable of playing out on the flanks as well. With his contract with Bayern Munich expiring at the end of this month, Barcelona are keen on snaring him away from the German giants and bringing him to La Masia.
While Barça plot a raid for one of their exciting talents, Bayern Munich are not one to sit quietly and are eyeing a swoop for the Catalans’ youth prospects, Iker Cordoba and Adam Aznou. The Barcelona youngsters are expected to make a decision on their future in the coming week.
It will be interesting to see what comes of the situation as Barcelona look to land Yildiz while Bayern plot a double raid for Cordoba and Aznou, both of whom will also be out of contract at the end of the month.
