Depp filed a $50 million lawsuit against Heard, accusing her of libel in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed that said he was a domestic abuser. Heard countersued for $100 million, alleging that Depp's lawyer defamed her by dismissing the accusation as a fake. The trial began on April 11 and proceeded to the Supreme Court of the United States.
