Four of the biggest names will not play in the Champions League next season. The European domestic season has come to an end. Real Madrid has been crowned Champions League champions, as well as La Liga champions. Manchester City won the Premier League, Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga for the second consecutive season, and AC Milan won Serie A for the first time in a decade. In addition, the important players for next season's UCL have been confirmed. Real Madrid will face stiff competition from Europe's elite next season as they attempt to defend their championship in what promises to be another fascinating European campaign.

However, some big names will be missing from UCL football next season after failing to finish in the Top 4 of their respective leagues.

So, let's take a look at the four largest teams that will be missing out on Champions League action next season.

Manchester United will not compete in the Champions League again.Manchester United's dreadful season came to an end with them missing out on the Champions League. This is the fourth time they have failed to accomplish so since their legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, resigned following the 2012/13 season. United only managed to finish sixth in the Premier League, 13 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

United remained in the Top-4 race until April, when a string of poor results caused them to slip away. Their dreadful season came to an end with a goal difference of zero, 57 goals conceded in 38 games, and the lowest-ever point total in a single Premier League campaign in history. The Red Devils must compete in the Europa League next season and must improve dramatically under Erik ten Hag if they are to return to the UCL in the near future.

Mourinho is out of the Champions League with AS Roma.

Jose Mourinho's first season in charge of AS Roma was a rollercoaster. The Italian team competed in the inaugural Europa Conference League, and it appeared that Mourinho was overly focused on bringing home the trophy.Roma dominated the competition and ultimately won it, defeating Feyenoord in the final. Mourinho won his fifth European title and became the first manager in history to win all three of UEFA's major club competitions. What's the season's drawback? In Serie A, Roma was unable to maintain their position.

They came in sixth place in Serie A, seven points behind the top four teams. As a result, they'll be back in the Europa League next season, which means Mourinho won't be in charge of any Champions League games.

Villarreal will not be able to relive their Champions League dream.Villarreal achieved the ultimate underdog's dream this season by making it all the way to the UCL semifinals. Following their passage through the group stages, they stunned Bayern Munich and Juventus to emerge as the tournament's surprise package.

Villarreal eventually lost to eventual champions Liverpool, despite giving them a good fight. The Yellow Submarine will not be competing in the Champions League next season, unfortunately.Villarreal's La Liga season deteriorated as a result of their focus on the Champions League. They couldn't keep up with the Top-4 and had to forego their league campaign in order to compete in the Champions League.

They finished ninth and will therefore be forced to compete in the Europa Conference League next season. At the very least, Unai Emery will be able to add another European trophy to his collection next season.

Arsenal has failed to qualify for the Champions League for the sixth time in a row.Arsenal had the simplest path to a Premier League Top-4 finish among the contenders, with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur all playing in European competition this season. The Gunners appeared to be on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League at the end of the season, but they succumbed in the final few games.

Spurs passed them in the Top-4 competition after crushing losses to Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in two of their final three games. In the end, Mikel Arteta’s side had to settle for a fifth place spot despite playing some nice football thanks to their impressive youngsters. The Gunners have failed to qualify for the UCL for the sixth straight season, and they will once again compete in the Europa League next season.
