Farouk Al Wahab, an expert in international relations, believes the Inspector General of Police (IGP) did not make a mistake in his response to the British High Commissioner to Ghana.

Harriet Thompson, the British High Commissioner to Ghana, expressed alarm on social media about the arrest of Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the principal convener of the #FixTheCountry Movement, on a traffic infringement.

"On his way to court, Oliver Barker Vormawor, convener of the #FixTheCountry campaign, was detained again, I think for a traffic offense." In a tweet, the ambassador wrote, "I'll be eager to watch where this goes..."

Dr George Akuffo Dampare, in a four-page statement in response to Harriet Thompson's week-old tweet, stated that it breaches the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961, which prohibits diplomatic missions from interfering in the foreign affairs of their host country.

"Is there any reason why, out of all the individuals arrested every day in Ghana for various offenses, you are particularly interested in this person's case?" Is it true that you have lost faith in our judicial system, criminal justice system, and court proceedings in general?"

"Do you have any idea how many Members of Parliament, Chief Executives, and other high-profile Ghanaians have been caught and convicted for traffic violations and have complied with the law?" If you're interested, we'll gladly share the list with you."

"For the time being, we would suggest a Ghanaian proverb to aid you in your diplomatic endeavors." 'Di wo fie asem' means 'learn to remain within the confines of what concerns you,' according to extracts from Dampare's statement.

The IGP's remark has been characterized as aggressive and unpleasant by critics.

In an interview with Farouk Al Wahab, host of Atinka FM's AM Drive, Farouk Al Wahab stated the IGP's comments will have no impact on Ghana's relationship with the British Consulate.

"The bottom line is that she received a response from an institutional leader, namely the IGP." In his response, the IGP was correct. She might have written to the IGP anonymously if she had any complaints.

"So, if you rant on a worldwide forum like Twitter, you're attempting to portray the country as a hostile nation that doesn't treat its residents properly," he continued.
