Na Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, the Overlord of the Waala Traditional Council, has acknowledged that their flogging occurred on his instructions, just 24 hours after denying knowledge of the physical mistreatment of two people in the courtyard of his castle.
The two were reportedly implicated in a viral sex video controversy.
He said it was part of a package of measures put in place by the Council, which included opinion leaders from the municipality, to combat immoral and deviant behavior among the area's young in recent years.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Wa, he expressed his emotional reaction to the film and gave reasons for disputing that the youngsters committed arbitrary action without his knowledge or consent.
"In addition to the flogging, the boy's and girl's parents will agree to allow the two marry and live together as a couple as a deterrence to the youngsters living upright lives," he added.
The Wa Naa stated that the laws were put in place to allow decency, morality, and peace to prevail in the Municipality in order to attract investors and provide jobs for the teeming young.
"People who come to Wa will be able to enjoy their stay, and strangers with family will not be concerned about their safety," he added.
He stated that he, his elders, and other opinion leaders would not shirk their responsibilities, but would instead guarantee that Wa remained a pleasant town for everybody to enjoy.
On behalf of Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, the Overlord of the Wala Traditional Council, Naa Kadri Ibrahim, the chief's spokesperson, denounced the flogging on Tuesday, May 31.
He stated the conduct would only bring the palace's name into shame, and he promised that the perpetrators of the barbarous act would be apprehended and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
Wa Naa's revelation that he approved of the whipping contradicts his spokeswoman.
