Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, congratulated Asante Kotoko on winning the Ghana Premier League in 2012/13 and asked them to repeat the feat in Africa.

The Porcupine Warriors were named the new Ghanaian champions after a 1-1 draw with AshantiGold SC at the Len Clay Stadium earlier today in a thrilling GPL match-week 29 affair.

Yaw Annor scored the game's first goal, extending his record to 20, but Maxwell Agyemang's second-half equalizer shared the points after the final whistle.

Now, following the game, GFA President Kurt Okraku took to Facebook to congratulate the 'Kum Apem' team, characterizing their season as "fantastic" and charging them to make a strong statement in Africa next season. He composed:

"It's a fantastic day, and it's been a fantastic season. The GPL trophy has been awarded to the Gh reds. Good job, gentlemen, but as Africa approaches, it's time to work even harder!!! #BringBackTheLove"

Coach Prosper Narteh and his team will now compete in the CAF Champions League in 2022/23.

The inclusion of local players in Ghana's national squad, the Black Stars, has sparked a slew of concerns that Ghanaians can't seem to get their heads around. These local players were not even summoned into the Black Stars a few years ago, but that is changing now.

When local players are invited to join the national team for friendly games or important competitions, however, they rarely receive a chance to play. And this is what Charles Taylor, one of Ghana's best players, has been talking about for quite some time.

Ex-Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Daniel Afriyie Barnie of Hearts of Oak is more skilled than current Black Stars attacker Felix Afena-Gyan, according to the ex-Kumasi Asante Kotoko forward.

This allegation made by the former Ghanaian international is in reference to the fact that these locally based players are not given the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities on the field.

In the studio this afternoon, he pleaded with the present coach to give these local youngsters opportunity after they are called up to the Black Stars.

He made these remarks following Ghana's Black Stars' 3-0 victory over Madagascar at the Cape Coast stadium.
