Tottenham Hotspur have issued their list of players, and Pierluigi Gollini will return to Atalanta after Antonio Conte declined to extend his loan agreement with the club.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has turned down the opportunity to sign loanee Pierluigi Gollini on a permanent basis, as part of a group of 13 players set to depart the club.
After making 10 appearances for Spurs and serving as Hugo Lloris' understudy for the duration of the season, the goalkeeper, 27, will return to his parent club Atalanta. For an estimated £13 million, Tottenham could have made Gollini's stay permanent.
"We congratulate Pierluigi for his service and wish him well in the future," the club said in a statement. J'Neil Bennett, Kacper Kurylowicz, Dermi Lusala, Thimothee Lo-Tutala, Josh Oluwayemi, Tobi Omole, and Isak Solberg have all left the Development Squad following the expiration of their contracts.
"Under-18s players Jez Davies, Jordan Hackett, Khalon Haysman, Renaldo Torraj, and Oliver Turner also left after their scholarships ended. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors."
Gollini's final appearance for Spurs came in the second leg of a Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea, and he had a nightmare night. Despite the fact that the former Aston Villa goalkeeper did not participate in the first leg, in which Conte's team were defeated 2-0, his error allowed Antonio Rudiger to score the solitary goal in round two, knocking Tottenham out at the last hurdle.
"It's natural that I was hoping to play a bit more," Gollini said on the DAZN Talks podcast about his time in north London. "However, I knew from the start that I would play the cups and Lloris the league." I was in the Conference, and we didn't play; we had nine cases of Covid, and they didn't show up.
Carabao? The coach decided not to do any turnovers in the semi-final against Chelsea and subsequently in the FA Cup final. I appeared in 11 games and had the good fortune to train alongside Lloris. You can improve even if you don't play, yet there are some things you can only learn on the field, such as how to improve from your mistakes.
You may learn even by witnessing specific surroundings if you have the correct mindset. In football, as well as other situations. I've always believed that you should make the best of a bad circumstance. You will always waste time if you have the intention of doing so. What does the future hold for me? I'll tell you the truth: if I had the option, I'd stay at Tottenham. I'm having a great time here, and I'm quite devoted to this group and this club.
