Karim Benzema, a Real Madrid superstar, has spoken up about a feud he had with former manager Jose Mourinho.
Following an outstanding season for Los Blancos in which he scored 44 goals in 46 games, Benzema is a top contender for the Ballon d'Or this year. The 34-year-old was instrumental in his team's Champions League victory this year, which marked his sixth European Cup in nine years.
In an interview with the French magazine Onze Mundial, the renowned striker opened up on his time playing for Mourinho at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013.
Before a match against Mallorca at the Bernabeu in January 2011, the attacker said that he had a row with Mourinho. According to El Espanol, the international attacker from France claimed:
Mourinho and I had a minor squabble. Before a match against Mallorca, we met at the hotel and had a talk. When we got into an argument, I told him, 'Start me tomorrow, I'll score, and I'll win the match.' I scored the next day, and we won 1-0.
During his stay in Madrid, Mourinho would win the La Liga title and the Copa del Rey. He would frequently face Pep Guardiola's renowned Barcelona side in head-to-head matches.
UEFA named the Frenchman the Champions League Player of the Season after he scored an astonishing 15 goals in only 12 matches. The accolade comes after his team's victory in the final versus Liverpool at the Stade de France.
Los Blancos have achieved one of the most incredible triumphs in the history of the competition. In the knockout rounds, they beat PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City before defeating Jurgen Klopp's team in the final to win their record-extending 14th European title.

The Frenchman followed it up with another treble against Chelsea in the quarter-finals at Stamford Bridge. In the final four, he scored the game-winning penalty in extra time against Premier League champions Manchester City.
According to the Mail, Benzema was also named Goal of the Season for his spectacular header at Stamford Bridge. On the edge of the Chelsea penalty area, the attacker wonderfully received Vinicius Junior's cross and headed it beyond Edouard Mendy.
