After a leaked letter revealed that he directed the Controller and Accountant General to discharge funds without Parliament's approval, Ken Ofori-Atta has come under fire.

The finance minister requested that GH25 million be released to pay contractors working on the National Cathedral project.

According to the Minority in Parliament, the command to release the millions was illegal and prioritized incorrectly.

Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta approved the transfer of GH25 million for the National Cathedral project without Parliament's approval, according to a leaked document to the Controller and Accountant-General.

The leaked memo, dated March 31, 2022, attempted to explain that the cash will be released to cover some of RIBADE Limited's outstanding claims. Since then, the document has been trending on the internet.

The Minority has branded the minister's action as a grave legal violation. Opposition lawmakers claim that such spending was not authorized by Parliament. According to opposition members, the GH25 million was not even included in Mr Ofori-2022 Atta's budget presentation to the legislature last year.

During the June 4 demonstration, Captain Smart and Barker-Vormawor will be armed.

Minority MP for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa took to Facebook to say that, in addition to dodging Parliament, the finance minister also exhibited a lack of priority in spending tax money.

"Shockingly, this is the same government alleging a shortage of cash to pay NABCo trainees, School meals caterers, service employees, the 3-year no-textbooks-syndrome, and so on," he said on Facebook on June 2, 2022.

Why is the Akufo-Addo government providing a massive GHS25 million for the National Cathedral project in the midst of a crippling economic crisis?

Surprisingly, this is the same government that claims it doesn't have enough money to pay NABCo trainees, school feeding caterers, service staff, and the 3-year no-textbooks-syndrome, among other things.

This blatant disregard for God's mercy cannot be pleasing to the compassionate God we all serve.

It's also worth noting that this blatantly insensitive behavior is taking place without parliamentary approval; we'll be demanding urgent answers in Parliament.

In the coming days, he said, Parliament would seek "urgent explanations" from the finance minister.

President Nana Akufo-commitment Addo's to create an enduring memorial to God for bringing him to power in 2016 is the National Cathedral project.

It will be a spectacular edifice in the centre of Accra that would serve several Christian denominations once completed.

President Akufo-Addo has also stated that he is committed to leading the project's completion in order to fulfill his promise to God.

"As I stated on March 6, 2017, the National Cathedral would undoubtedly be one of the iconic landmarks of the African Continent upon completion," President Akufo-aid Addo's in 2020.

When financial concerns for the project arose, the government explained that it would be created through donations and voluntary contributions from private persons and organizations, rather of taxpayer funds.
