NEWCASTLE have the opportunity to make several high-profile signings this summer.

There's a lot of curiosity in Newcastle United and how Eddie Howe's team will perform next season, which will be the club's first full season under Saudi ownership. The Magpies made a statement with their relegation-avoiding business in January, and more head-turning action is expected this summer.

Newcastle has the financial resources to entice high-profile players to St. James' Park, enticing them with lucrative wage packages and the promise of a unique enterprise on Tyneside. And the club's performance in the second half of last season suggested that it was already making improvements.

Newcastle is expected to be able to return to European competition soon, thanks to their newfound transfer market muscle. Four prospective free transfers have been identified by Express Sport. By challenging the top six next season, Howe could increase his team and fuel a push for Europa League football.

Tarkowski, James

Following Burnley's relegation to the Championship, James Tarkowski will become a free agent, with Newcastle believed to be one of the clubs interested in signing him. The 29-year-old is unquestionably Premier League quality, and he would be a significant upgrade over Howe's present central-defensive alternatives.

Tolisso, Corentin

There is no better way to make a statement than to bring in a Champions League winner next season. After his Bayern Munich contract expires this month, Corentin Tolisso, who is 27 years old, may be interested in forging a spectacular midfield tandem with January addition Bruno Guimaraes.

The Frenchman recently stated that he would like to join a Premier League club: "I want to join a club and play a key part in continuing to win championships. With its intensity, I'd be interested in England, but I'm not ruling out any league. I'm well aware of my capabilities. I know when and how a change in my life and environment will benefit me."

Eriksen, Christian

After returning to the Premier League in January, Christian Eriksen defied all expectations, prospering in Thomas Frank's overachieving Brentford side. He's expected to make a permanent move to a top-half team rather than extend his time with the Bees after a successful half-season in England.

With Tottenham Hotspur rumored to be interested in the Danish playmaker, Newcastle would have to persuade him with a clear vision of their ambition as well as a sizable wage. However, he would be a beneficial addition to Howe's side and would help to instill the possession-based approach that he is attempting to implement.

Ousmane Dembele is a Senegalese footballer.

Barcelona's financial condition is deteriorating, making Ousmane Dembele's departure as a free agent on June 30 all the more likely. The 25-year-old right-winger has been linked with moves to Chelsea and Manchester United in the Premier League for some time.

While the Blues are rumored to be interested in making Dembele one of Todd Boehly's first acquisitions, Newcastle could have a voice in the matter. In what would be one of the more shocking transactions of the summer, the Magpies might entice the Frenchman by removing Chelsea's financial incentive, both in terms of pay and a signing-on fee.
