Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament for the Abetifi Constituency in the Eastern Region, claims that the country's present economic suffering has eroded Ghanaians' faith in the ruling New Patriotic Party.
He is, nevertheless, hopeful that government policies will help the economy recover, and that, together with President Akufo-track Addo's record, the NPP would win the 2024 presidential election.
"People in this nation are broken-hearted, and the only reason they are broken-hearted is because they trusted us, but the current difficulty we are facing goes beyond Ghana; it is something that is sweeping the globe, and we have our fair share, and I promise you that we will come around."
"I am not concerned, I am not fearful; I believe we can accomplish it; we have His Excellency's records to stand on; and I am not too concerned about breaking the eight; I know that 2024 is another election; we have the record to stand on; and we will win that election," he added.
Despite the economic woes, the government continues to embark on large infrastructure projects around the country, according to a former Minister of State at the National Security Ministry.
"Every election is difficult, not only breaking this eight, I don't see this breaking the eight and all those things, every election is difficult, and we have Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-records," Addo's he said.
We're going to ride hard on all of the infrastructure projects that are now underway around the country, and we're going to win; where there are gaps, we'll explain why those gaps exist to the general public."
"Me and my colleagues in parliament, senior members of this party, we will do everything in our power to ensure that the government's good works are properly propagated, there are setbacks in life, there are setbacks in government, and this is a turbulent time for the world, and we are getting our first share of it, but I believe we will come around those things and when we campaign hard on H.E Nana Akufo-records, Addo's we will surely break the 8.
Mr. Acheampong stated this in a press conference following the NPP's Eastern Regional Conference, when new leaders were chosen.
Bryan Acheampong hailed the recently elected Eastern regional NPP officers and challenged them to work more at the grassroots level by organizing a successful mobilization effort.
In his victory address, the newly elected NPP Eastern Regional Chairman, Jeff Konadu, expressed his deep thanks to President Nana Akuffo Addo, his campaign team, members of parliament, and all delegates for placing their trust in the executives elected there.
