After three days of suspense, drama, tension, and surprise-filled elections, the New Patriotic Party (NPPincumbent )'s regional chairman were re-elected after the party's regional delegates conferences.

The incumbent chairman in the Bono East and Western North areas, on the other hand, were unable to keep their posts.

The current chairman of the Eastern Region did not seek re-election, and a new face appeared.

Francis Ndede Siah, the Western Regional Chairman, was the only one of the 12 who was re-elected.

Due to a court injunction, the election in the Central Region has been postponed.

Retained

Divine Otoo Agorhom, Greater Accra; Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, nicknamed Chairman Wontumi, Ashanti; Nurudeen Fuseini, North East; Anthony Namoo, Upper East; Kwabena Owusu Sekyere, Ahafo; Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba, Northern; Iddrisu Sulemana, Savannah; and Kwame Baffoe, aka Abronye, Bono were

Makafui Woanya of Volta, Evans Yaw Dapaah of Oti, and Sanbaye B. Kangbere of Upper West are the others.

In the Bono East and Western North regions, incumbent chairmen were beaten by Ibrahim Baba Bukari, who received 151 votes to defeat Thomas Adu Appiah, who received 78 votes, and Benjamin Armah, who received 105 votes to defeat William Benjamin Assuah, who received 94 votes.

Jeff Konadu Addo, the new NPP Regional Chairman in the Eastern Region, won 424 votes to overcome his lone opponent, Kwadwo Boateng-Agyemang, who received 202 votes.

Uneasiness

Voting was stopped twice in the Ashanti Region owing to conflicts between delegates from TESCON and the Council of Elders.

At the Baba Yara Stadium, where the elections were held, a guy spilled Schnapps on the ground, ostensibly to cast curses on some of the delegates.

Six people were detained in the Northern Region for attempting to incite riots at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, the conference's location.

Some of the conferences were also delayed, particularly in the Eastern and Volta regions, where aspirants were alleged to be meeting delegates at various places.

Surprises

Predictions that the current chairman would lose to his primary rival, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, in the Ashanti Region did not come true, as Chairman Wontumi received 464 votes to overcome Odeneho Appiah's 306 votes.

Contrary to expectations, businessman Mr Samba won 238 votes to retain his position as the NPP's Northern Regional Chairman, defeating his closest rival, Alhaji Inusah Musah, often known as Dagomba Boy, who received 122 votes, and the third candidate, Ibrahim Mahama, who received a single vote.

In the Bono Region, Mr Baffoe defied the odds by winning with 173 votes, compared to 84 for his opponent, Konlaabig Rasheed.
