Chelsea are leading the hunt to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to Astamfordbridgetoofar through Italian site Corriere Dello Sport (h/t Football.London).

The Frenchman's current deal at Turin expires in a year, and he might leave the club this summer. He got off to a sluggish start last season, but he picked up the pace in the second half.

Rabiot made 45 appearances this season, contributing two assists. He was mostly utilised in the midfield, but he also saw action on the left flank.

The Frenchman has not ruled out a return to Paris Saint-Germain, with Newcastle United also expressing interest in his services. Chelsea, on the other hand, is thought to be leading the fight for the Nations League title.

Jorginho (30) and N'Golo Kante are two of the Blues' ageing midfielders (31). They'll have to be replaced sooner or later, and Rabiot (27) might be a good option for Thomas Tuchel.

He'll only set you back €15 million, making him a tempting target.

Is Adrien Rabiot a good fit for Chelsea?

The Blues are gearing up for a busy summer. They now have to work hard to fix the team that appears to have fallen off the waggon after confirming the new owners' takeover.

Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, two key centre-backs, have also left on free transfers. Thiago Silva, a 37-year-old Brazilian who will turn 38 in less than four months, is their starting center-back.

Their attackers are struggling, and Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea's club-record signing) is expected to leave the club this summer once again.

With Kante and Jorginho both approaching 30, they require reinforcements across the board.

It suggests that the Blues may be in for a summer of big investment, and that they would benefit from some low-cost signings, such as Rabiot's.

He is likely to prove to be a strong squad player at a low cost to the club at the age of 27.
