Bayern Munich may face competition in their pursuit of Liverpool's Sadio Mane, and they may not be able to sign him for the rumored sum of £25 million.
Sadio Mane appears to be on his way out of Liverpool this summer.
Sadio Mane appears to be on his way out of Liverpool this summer.
According to reports, Liverpool has set a minimum price for Sadio Mane, with two other clubs joining Bayern Munich in the fight to sign the Senegalese international.
Mane's future was first speculated about soon before Liverpool's Champions League final loss to Real Madrid, with Bayern Munich then mentioned as the frontrunners to sign him. According to reports, the Reds are willing to let Mane, who has a year left on his current contract, leave for roughly £25.5 million.
However, recent evidence has cast doubt on that statistic. According to The Athletic, the Reds are looking for roughly £42.5 million for Mane, and Bayern may not be willing to pay that.
Despite strong links to the Allianz Arena, transfer expert Graeme Bailey (via Anfield Edition) claims that Atletico Madrid and PSG are also interested in the forward.
Whatever happens, Mane's future appears to be outside of Anfield. After the Champions League final in Paris, the 30-year-old notified everyone of his plan to lay out his predicament.
Despite this, he did not give any press interviews following the match. Jurgen Klopp said he "couldn't care less" about speculations linking Mane to Bayern Munich before the match, which destroyed Liverpool's dreams of a historic triple.
Sadio will be a major role wherever he plays next season, according to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. Mane was unable to make an impact in the final, as Liverpool fell to Carlo Ancelotti's side 1-0.
Despite this, he has had a fantastic experience on Merseyside since joining for £37 million from Southampton in 2016. In just 269 games with the Reds, the Senegalese striker has 120 goals and 48 assists.
This season, he has been in particularly good form, scoring 23 goals and assisting on five more for his teammates. Reds fans will be hoping to see more of him on Merseyside next season, but that does not appear to be the case.
The former Southampton winger is said to have decided to leave Liverpool and is looking for a new challenge somewhere. Bayern Munich is interested in Mane, therefore Germany appears to be the most likely destination. Earlier reports claiming a €30 million deal for Sadio may be out of date, as Liverpool may demand substantially more.
Sadio is supposedly valued at €50 million by the Reds. Liverpool are known for negotiating hard, and new sporting director Julian Ward is familiar with their tactics. Bayern Munich are trying to reach an agreement similar to the one reached between the Reds and Thiago last summer.
