Ghanaian Ace Broadcaster and Gender Advocate, Oheneyere Gifty Anti, has remarked that it’s a necessity to celebrate women who contribute immensely to the development of a society.
Speaking at the launch of the fifth edition of the Ghana Outstanding Women Awards (GOWA), she expressed that this women-celebration will go a long way to change the narrative and give women the confidence to explore and excel in any chosen fields.
Sourced from Ishmael Awudi, Madam Anti said there was the need for media practitioners to intensify advocacy on women Empowerment and reduce the usual politics, sports and entertainment often prioritised in the media.
“It takes a great determination, focus and consistency for one to attain her purpose calling on government to combat inequality and increase female representation in the political sphere”, she said.
The fifth edition of the Ghana Outstanding Women Awards (GOWA) has been launched with nominations opened for women who have transformed lives in their respective endeavours.
The awards will confer honours on Ghanaian women who contribute their quota to societies through charity and socioeconomic developmental projects.
Also, the Executive Director of GOWA revealed that her platform has given women the leverage to embark on various developmental projects around in the country.
She therefore, encouraged women to come out from their shells to do what they can and capable of without any fear of intimidation
