Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry in the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Express, as Jurgen Klopp tries to bolster his attacking options.

According to the source, Liverpool has made initial contact with the player's team, but they are having difficulty agreeing on Gnabry's personal terms. While the German forward has established his demands at roughly £250,000 per week, the Merseyside club is hesitant to pay more than £200,000 per week. The Reds have been in similar predicament before, with Mohamed Salah's future in doubt for the same reasons.

Bayern are keen to offload the 26-year-old winger for a fee in the region of £34 million in the final year of his contract to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Real Madrid are all vying for his signature.

Serge Gnabry joined Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich from Werder Bremen in the summer of 2017 for a fee in the region of €8 million after rising through the ranks at Stuttgart and Arsenal. In 171 appearances for the Bavarians over the last six years, the German international has scored 64 goals and provided 40 assists in all competitions. The 26-year-old enjoyed an outstanding 2021/22 season with Bayern, contributing 20 goals in 34 Bundesliga appearances to help the club win their ninth consecutive title.

He put up some impressive figures in the German top flight last season, averaging 1.4 tackles, two shots, 1.4 critical passes, 1.9 dribbles, and 0.5 crosses per 90 minutes. He also established himself as one of the finest players on his team last season, with an average WhoScored rating of 7.30. One of his greatest assets is his versatility, which allows him to play down either wing or even as a centre-forward in an emergency.

Is This Jurgen Klopp's Best Option?

With Sadio Mane poised to leave Liverpool in the not-too-distant future, a player-plus-cash deal may be the icing on the cake for Liverpool. Since transferring to Munich, the Stuttgart-born attacker has seldom had a bad season, and one would expect him to have even more success in Jurgen Klopp's system, which prioritizes wingers as primary goal scorers. Furthermore, given the uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah's future at Anfield, the signing appears to be even more logical.

For years to come, the front three of Diaz, Jota, and Gnabry can dominate Liverpool's attack. As a result, Klopp should go all-in on him this summer.
