The 2021/22 Premier League season came to a thrilling conclusion. On the last day, Manchester City appeared to be down and out before Ilkay Gundogan put his side in command against a tenacious Aston Villa side.Although Liverpool and Manchester City battled for the Premier League title until the final day of the 2018/19 season, the tension seemed to be magnified this time when City fell down 2-0 in the second half. The Citizens, on the other hand, deserved to win the trophy after controlling the roost all season.

At the start of the 2021/22 Premier League season, there were several contenders.

Chelsea was expected to fight for the Premier League title this season after winning the Champions League last season. The Etihad club was always going to be a contender, while Jurgen Klopp's Reds were expected to perform admirably across the board.Last season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer led Manchester United to a second-place finish in the Premier League, and the team was expected to improve this year. Despite the fact that they all competed for the league for a long time, there was only one squad that would win the championship at the end of the season.

On that subject, here are the five Premier League teams that spent the most nights at the top of the standings this season. (2021-22)

Liverpool is ranked #5 -(11)

Liverpool may have pushed Manchester City in the Premier League's last two months, but the Reds were never in contention to win the title.

At the start of the season, Jurgen Klopp's team was rather consistent. Draws against Brentford, the Citizens, and Brighton in the space of a month meant they were always going to be on the back foot. Furthermore, they needed to win practically every game between January and May in order to mount a title push.As a result, the Merseyside team topped the league table for only 11 nights. Regardless, Klopp will be pleased with the second-half displays of his players.

#4 Tottenham Hotspur - 13

This season was always going to be a wild ride for Tottenham Hotspur. Nuno Espirito Santo was brought in at the start of the season to push Spurs in a new direction, which was challenging, especially given Harry Kane's failed transfer saga.

Despite being ousted in November, the Portuguese manager's side were the only team in the Premier League to win their first three games of the season. They secured a win against Manchester City on the first day of the season before dispatching Wolverhampton Wanderers and Watford. As a result, they were the top of the table for 13 nights in the first two weeks.

Antonio Conte managed to get the north London club into the Champions League, and it will not be surprising if he leads them to the league title next season.

Manchester United is ranked third with 14

This season has been one of Manchester United's worst in the league, and few will want to remember it. The administration expected Solskjaer to bring the Premier League title back to Old Trafford after nearly a decade following the additions of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Red Devils got off to a flying start with a 5-1 thrashing of Leeds United on the first day of the season. Despite losing to Southampton the following week, they went on to beat Wolves, Newcastle United, and West Ham United. They spent 14 nights at the top of the Premier League league as a result of this. However, what happened next was inconceivable, as the club drew multiple times before losing to Liverpool and Manchester City. Soon after, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired, and Ralf Rangnick was unable to salvage the season.

Erik ten Hag has been given the task of restoring Manchester United to its former glory days. Fans at Old Trafford will be hoping that their team spends more time at the top of the table next season.

Chelsea is ranked second with 70

At the outset of the season, Chelsea appeared to be one of the best teams in the world. Thomas Tuchel's team had recently won the UEFA Super Cup and were playing well, while Romelu Lukaku appeared to be worth the large money.

The Blues had a strong start to the season, losing only once between August and the beginning of December. This enthralling run by this young West London club saw them sit atop the league table for 70 nights. Tuchel and his team were expected to continue their winning streak and dethrone Manchester City and Liverpool. However, injuries and a covid issue hampered their title bid in December, making that easier said than done. In March, Roman Abramovich was also sanctioned, putting the club in one of its darkest periods in the last two decades.

Regardless, they finished third in the league and will look to contend again under new ownership next season.

Manchester City is ranked number one in the Premier League with a score of 118.

Manchester City were the Premier League's most ruthless team this season, and few will argue that they did not deserve to win the title.

Pep Guardiola's Rolls Royce team got off to a poor start in the season and did not reach the top of the standings until December. However, as evidenced by their title-winning runs over the last couple of seasons, once they reached the top, they were never going to let go.

So it's no surprise that, despite a few stumbles in the last stages of the season, they didn't lose their lead in the league table. They spent 118 nights at the top of the Premier League league as a result of this.Guardiola will be pleased with his team after winning their fourth league title in the last five years. When you consider the competition, it's quite an accomplishment.
