Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, the Founder and President of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach and an International Evangelist, and Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, the Spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, have both spoken out against the alleged armed demonstration planned for June 4, 2022 by some citizens of the Republic.
On June 2, 2022, the Religious Leaders presented their case on GTV's Breakfast Show.
If they want to organise a demonstration with ammunition, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu advises them to refrain since this might lead to instability in Ghana, insurgency, and treasonous activities.
"I want to inform any politician, and I'm sure no politician from any party is promoting it." Stay safe and keep fighting, which means apply intelligence."
"In Uganda, if you are an opposition leader, you are beaten and placed behind a pickup truck," he said, citing an example. He went on to say that while people might disagree with some statements made by the President or Vice President, as well as the administration in power, they need not take it personally and transform it into hatred in order to incite insurgency.
"Sometimes young guys get so hyped up and make remarks without thinking," Dr. Lawrence Tetteh added, "and I keep stressing emotions have no aim." We should be allowed to make remarks that aren't contradictory to what we're doing.
"They are protesting because they are unhappy with something, but if they do so violently, it will result in a crash, which we do not want in Ghana." Let us seek police authorization to conduct things within the confines of the law."
"The whole point of being here is to establish a climate where Muslims and Christians, as well as the NPP and the NDC, can live in harmony," he stated.
"I am glad that our young men and women are protesting; it is part of democracy," he said, "but violence is not acceptable." The Ghana Police Service confirmed on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, that it had received warning from the above-mentioned organisers of the planned demonstration on Sunday, May 29, 2022, in a statement posted on their Facebook page.
