Mohamed Salah has confirmed that he will play for Liverpool next season, although Barcelona is a major factor in the Egyptian superstar's reluctance to commit his future to the club. Salah has been promised a transfer to Camp Nou in 2023 if he becomes a free agent, putting his Liverpool career in jeopardy.

According to Mirror Sport, the 29-year-reluctance old's to extend his current agreement at Anfield is due to Barcelona's desire. Salah has been assured that after his Liverpool contract expires, he will have a place in Xavi Hernandez's side.

Salah appears to have changed his mind after telling close friends months ago that he was willing to stay on Merseyside. Barcelona's financial woes were recently aided by a £235 million naming rights deal with Spotify, the world's largest audio streaming company.

In January, Xavi signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres, and he has further signings planned for the summer. The Spaniard believes he can entice Robert Lewandowski away from Bayern Munich, and he has made contact with Wolves player Ruben Neves.

Barcelona's interest in a Salah heist in 2023 has put Liverpool in a bind before of his current contract's final year. Despite the Egyptian winger's willingness to play at Anfield next season, the Reds are undecided about allowing him to extend his contract if it becomes evident that he intends to leave on a Bosman in the next 12 months.

With Sadio Mane declaring his intention to leave Liverpool this summer, Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to sanction another high-profile departure during the same window. However, Reds officials, who are no strangers to clever business under the German coach, will not consider a free transfer for a player who has 156 goals in 254 games for the club as good business.

If Barcelona is unable to persuade Bayern Munich to sell Lewandowski, Liverpool's attitude may force the La Liga club to sign Salah a year earlier than intended. They'd almost certainly have Klopp's and the players' preferences working against them as they prepare for another big season at Anfield.

Liverpool will return to the 2022-23 season with a fury after their quadruple bid fell through in the final week of the previous campaign. And, with Manchester City already stronger with the addition of Erling Haaland, the uncertainty surrounding Mane and Salah's futures will further add to the club's concerns.
