Arsenal has reportedly refused to let Hector Bellerin join Real Betis on a free transfer.

According to Estadio Deportivo, the 27-year-old has asked Arsenal to end his contract so that he can join the La Liga club on a free transfer.

The club, however, has reportedly stated that he would not be allowed to depart for no reason. Other clubs interested in the Arsenal right-back are AS Roma, Juventus, Inter Milan, and Juventus.

Bellerin spent last season on loan at Real Betis, making 32 appearances in all competitions for the Andalusian club.

His effectiveness at Benito Villamarin has persuaded the club's hierarchy to extend his stay. Los Verdiblancos appear to be at the top of the list for signing Bellerin.

The desire to return to Spain is mutual, as the Spanish right-back is eager to do so as well.

After a decade at Arsenal, Hector Bellerin may be ready to start a new chapter in his career.

Hector Bellerin began his football career at Barcelona's prestigious youth academy before joining Arsenal as a teenager in 2011. Two years later, he made his first-team debut and quickly established himself as the club's first-choice right-back.

The 27-year-performance old's for the Gunners was inconsistent, but he was one of the top right-backs in the world when he was at his peak.

This was highlighted in 2016, when he was named to the PFA's 'Team of the Year' and also earned his first international cap. However, a long-term knee injury in 2019 put a stop to his growth, and he quickly lost his starting spot.

The lack of consistent playing time pushed the Spain international to look for a fresh challenge. During his tenure with Real Betis, he was able to play at the highest level on a regular basis, which is a must for a player his age. Bellerin is in the peak of his career and should be playing regular football. Takehiro Tomiyasu has settled in admirably at right-back since his arrival from Bologna last year, but that cannot be guaranteed at Arsenal.

Hector Bellerin's 239 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions over the last decade underline his accomplishments. However, it may be time for him to move on and look for a new challenge.
