According to the Sun, Manchester United superstar David de Gea is expected to take over the armband next season as part of Erik ten Hag's new project.
Over the years, the Spaniard has been a fantastic servant for the Red Devils. With the exception of a handful of seasons, the superb shot-stopper joined Man United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and has spent 11 mainly successful years at the club.
This season, though, has been a breath of fresh air for the Spaniard, who has rediscovered his greatest form and is undoubtedly the best player in the world.
Despite playing for a poor team, he is a Premier League goalkeeper. This season, the 31-year-old has appeared in 46 games for the team, surrendering 66 goals and keeping ten clean sheets in all competitions.

For the previous several seasons, Harry Maguire has served as United's captain, but it appears that the underperforming centre-back will be relieved of his duties, with the Spaniard taking his place.

David de Gea, one of Manchester United's longest-serving players, deserves to be honored for his dedication with the armband.
The Spaniard may have gotten the chance sooner, but a poor run of play in the years running up to this season meant that the shot-chances stopper's of guiding the Red Devils in the past were slim. However, the situation has now improved.

Manchester United is in the midst of a reconstruction under new manager Erik ten Hag, as he attempts to assemble a competitive side for the coming season. The Spaniard might be in charge of the new initiative, as he attempts to build on his strong accomplishments this season.
David de Gea is one of the few players who is almost certain to play in Erik ten Hag's team next season, but it remains to be seen how he leads the United group as they attempt to reclaim their spot at the top of English football.
