During Brazil training, Richarlison and Vinicius Jr got into a heated argument.
Richarlison of Everton and Vinicius Jr of Real Madrid got into a heated argument during a training session ahead of Brazil's friendly against Japan on Monday in Tokyo.
Richarlison and Vinicius Jr, both Brazilian internationals, had to be separated after a heated training session.
As the argument raged on Saturday, the two players were seen grabbing each other's shirts. Experienced internationals Neymar and Dani Alves were among those who rushed over to settle the dispute, and it's unclear what sparked the incident.
Brazil is one of the favorites to win this year's World Cup in Qatar, and they are preparing for it by playing friendlies in Asia this month. On Thursday, they defeated South Korea 5-1, with Richarlison scoring, and will face Japan on Monday.
The brawl between the two comes just days after Richarlison was filmed congratulating Vinicius on his Champions League victory. Last month, he scored the game-winning goal for Real Madrid against Liverpool in Paris.
Richarlison, an Everton player, even celebrated the victory on social media. After a coach carrying Liverpool fans to the final in France failed to arrive, he posted a mock-up of himself as a bus driver. Toffees fans jokingly called the driver "Richard Arlison."
Richarlison also congratulated Vinicius on Instagram after scoring a brace against Liverpool in last season's Champions League quarterfinal. It's unclear whether the two are friends, and whether their feud is cause for concern ahead of the World Cup.
Brazil hasn't won the competition since it was held in Asia 20 years ago. In fact, no South American country has tasted victory since Brazil's. Argentina came the closest to winning the World Cup, losing 1-0 to Germany in the final in Brazil eight years ago.
Kaka, a Ballon d'Or winner who was part of Brazil's last World Cup-winning team, believes the current crop of players can triumph in Qatar. "We just finished the qualifying [round], topping the table," the AC Milan legend said, according to Arab News.
"Tite, the coach who's been there since the last World Cup, has done an excellent job, with a lot of young players coming out and growing at the right time."
"Tite is very good with tactics, he understands the players, the way to play," Kaka added. And he gave this group a name. As a result, we can see Brazil performing admirably. Another positive development in the last few games was that Brazil performed admirably without Neymar.
"That doesn't mean we don't need him." We do require him. But, in taking away all of his responsibilities, I believe we are also giving him more opportunities to shine. As a result, Brazil has the potential to make a difference in the World Cup."
Kaka continued, saying: "France will be a strong contender. Germany, too, has an extremely talented team. Of course, when it comes to Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal will always be a very strong national team that is difficult to play against. Argentina, which includes [Lionel] Messi, and Belgium. And Spain is doing exceptionally well. Those are the teams, in my opinion."
