With the latest update, Aurelien Tchouameni opens the door for a Liverpool transfer.

Real Madrid were said to be 'close' to signing Aurelien Tchouameni in May, but the Monaco midfielder is still unsure where he will play next season.

Despite reportedly 'agreeing' to join Real Madrid, Aurelien Tchouameni insists he has not decided where his future lies.

The 22-year-old is one of Europe's most promising young players and has been linked with a move away from Monaco this summer, with Real Madrid and Liverpool both showing interest. RMC reported last month that Tchouameni had decided to join Madrid instead for a fee in the region of £67 million.

They also stated that the France international had agreed to a five-year contract with the Spanish giants. Tchouameni has scored eight goals in 95 appearances for Monaco since joining from Bordeaux in 2019. His performances for the Ligue 1 club have earned him several caps for his country.

Tchouameni, on the other hand, has revealed that he has no idea where he will play football next season, despite an agreement with Real Madrid and interest from Liverpool. He told Téléfoot that he "hasn't decided" about his future.

"That doesn't bother me because it's a position I've always wanted. If the best clubs are following me, it means I'm doing something right "he said.

When asked directly if he has made a decision about his future, Tchouameni replied, "Not yet."

Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing the midfielder, as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to leave the club this summer, and James Milner and Jordan Henderson are both nearing the end of their careers. Thiago and Naby Keita were fantastic last season, with Fabinho frequently playing in the deeper role.

Tchouameni, a natural No.8, can also play anywhere across the midfield, which would suit Klopp's 4-3-3 flexible approach, in which two more advanced players frequently rotate. Thiago and Henderson did it effectively for the majority of the season, and Tchouameni would provide healthy competition.

Tchouameni's future has previously been discussed by Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell. When asked if he would rather sell him to Liverpool or Real Madrid, Mitchell replied, "I don't have a preference to be honest!" When selling a player, fair compensation is always required. Every year, the market is different.

"Everyone recognized Aurelien as a top player, but everyone also understands that we are an ambitious club with an ambitious shareholder. So, when it comes to selling him, I have no preference. To lose such a gifted player, we will have to be very aggressive in terms of the fee we demand."
