Residents of Tarkwa Nsuaem in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality have voiced their dissatisfaction with President Akufo-Addo over the government's inability to build them suitable and motorable roads.

The scenario, according to the angry people, including some disgruntled road users, impairs their daily routines, notwithstanding the serious economic hardships they face.

In an interview with JoyNews' Samuel Kojo Brace, who traveled to the region to examine the status of the roads, locals said that the route between Takoradi and Tarkwa has been left in shambles, despite government pledges to make it more user-friendly.

There has been no construction on the road since the sod was cut for the repair of the section in 2021, according to the locals.

Commuters will continue to be inconvenienced by the manholes and gullies.

"We heard last year from Akufo-Addo that this is a year for roads. That rhetoric was heard on a variety of television and radio stations. The firm who came to fix the road performed a mediocre job at best. You can ask the drivers for confirmation.

Cars can swerve off the road at any time. As a result, we applaud Akufo-Addo for his 419 to us. God bless him. I'm not sure if the Western Region is truly a part of Ghana. We haven't had a good relationship with Akufo-Addo. "May God be with him," a worried motorist exclaimed.

"As drivers who ply this Tarkwa road, we go through a lot of challenges," another angry driver told Samuel Kojo Brace. Even when you fix the automobile, it only lasts a week. Take a look at the path we're on. "The best comes from the West," they say. But today it's referred to as "the impoverished from the West."

If you drive down our road, you'll notice that we've fallen behind. It looks that those of us at Tarkwa Nsuaem are not citizens of the nation. When you consider some of our enclave's riches, such as bauxite, lumber, gold, and cocoa, you would ask why they don't pay attention to us here in the West."

"And as for us, the drivers, our situation is far worse," he concluded. When you buy gasoline today and use the stretch, everything is completed in a short period of time. We occasionally get stranded in the middle of the road while working.

When it rains, you have no idea where to go. We're standing in what appears to be a fish pond. It will be so large that fish can be raised in it. We, the drivers, are the ones who are affected. So we beg the government to help us because we're in trouble."

"They've arrived to take measurements of the roadways." They informed us that they are building an international road to Burkina Faso.
