Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the incumbent Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed gratitude to elders Nana Nkansah Ayeaboafo and Amb. Edward Boateng, his Campaign Team, his entire staff led by Andy Owusu and Nana Afia, and the entire leadership and supporters of the NPP in the Ashanti Region for his decisive re-election.

Chairman Wontumi was re-elected as the NPP Regional Chairman in the Ashanti Region over the weekend. Chairman Wontumi was elected to the role for the first time in 2014 and was re-elected in 2018. He was once the Bosomtwe Constituency Chairman.

Chairman Wontumi received 464 votes against his closest rival, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), who had served as Constituency Chairman for Afigya Kwabre South for about 20 years and received 306 votes.

Former Asokwa Constituency Chairman Robert Asare Bediako, who ran for the second time, finished in third with 20 votes. With nine votes, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a former Member of Parliament for Ejisu, finished in fourth. Oheneba Kofi Adum Bawuah came in fifth place with three votes.

Chairman Wontumi expressed gratitude to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership and supporters for another opportunity to lead the Ashanti Region ahead of the "Breaking the 8" agenda in a news conference following his election.

"I'd like to convey my deepest gratitude to the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) leadership and followers for their unwavering support and votes in the recent elections. I believe that if we work together, we will be able to break the eight."

He went on to say that his re-election showed the NPP's chances of "Breaking the 8" in the 2024 elections were improving.

"Breaking the 8 has begun at the Baba Yara Stadium; the NDC will not be able to stop us," he stated.

He stated that the NPP has a powerful message for Ghanaians, but that before it can be turned into administration, the party must be unified and ready to break the eight-year rule. "We should show this by standing together and being unified so that we may achieve our goals."

"We may have our issues," Chairman Wontumi said, "but we need to work together since a lot is expected of us as a powerful political party."

The National People's Party (NPP) believes in healthy competition. He congratulated all of the candidates on their efforts and encouraged them to work together to break the 8. He reaffirmed the party's commitment to become Ghana Africa's gem.
