YOU'RE AN AMBASSADOR, SO?; MAYBE SHE'S AN 'AGENT OF DESTRUCTION' - ALLOTEY JACOBS BLASTS BRITISH

Bernard Allotey Jacobs has slammed the British High Commissioner for her tweet on the arrest of Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the Convener of the "FixTheCountry" Movement.

Oliver Barker-Vormawor was first detained for endangering Ghana's security, but was recently re-arrested for driving violations.

"Oliver Barker Vormawor, convener of the #FixTheCountry campaign, detained again, I understand for a traffic infringement on his way to court," the High Commissioner wrote in a tweet. I'm curious to see where this goes..."

Her post, however, was not well received by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, who chastised her for making such a remark.

The IGP warned the British High Commissioner to "learn to remain within the confines of what concerns you" in a forceful statement.

Miss Harriet Thompson's post, he added, was "misguided, unjustified, and unfair."

"Normally, the Ghana Police Service would not reply to statements like yours, which are clearly made from a prejudiced or misinformed perspective. However, we have learned from prior sad experience that ignoring such misinformed, unjustified, and prejudiced statements designed to destroy the Ghana Police Service's and our country's reputations has not been useful.

"For the time being, we would suggest a Ghanaian proverb to aid you in your diplomatic endeavors." 'Di wo fie asem,' as the proverb goes, means 'learn to stay within the lines.'

"Moreover, we believe your tweet to be a breach of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which prohibits diplomatic missions from interfering in the domestic affairs of their host nation," the message said.

Allotey Jacobs, speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo," attacked the British High Commissioner for interfering in Ghana's domestic affairs, asking, "Is she the one paying them (FixtheCountry Movement)?"

He was perplexed as to why she would post such a sensitive tweet concerning the country's security at a time when security forces are on high alert to thwart any terrorist plots.

"We shouldn't talk about her since she is an ambassador and we are applying for a visa to visit Britain. Maybe she's a saboteur's agent "Allotey was enraged.

He also chastised those who criticized the IGP's remarks to the High Commissioner, saying: "So you're accusing a patriot of being a horrible guy. You've put him in that position to ensure the country's security. The army is present to safeguard the country's sovereignty. He's going about his business. As a result, he has devolved into a nasty guy. He has turned into a nasty guy for political reasons. Ghana has come to the conclusion that everybody who is assisting us in achieving peace is a terrible person "..
