Manchester United has targeted Christian Eriksen, the current Brentford striker, as they want to improve their prospects of qualifying for the Champions League next season by finishing in the top four of the Premier League.
Manchester United has already allowed four midfielders to depart the club this summer.
Last week, the club confirmed that Juan Mata, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, and Jesse Lingard would all be leaving the red side of Manchester for free, as none of their existing contracts, which all expire on the 30th of this month, would be extended.
With Erik ten Hag clearly eager to begin working with his squad as soon as possible, it's safe to assume he'll want transfer business completed as soon as possible as well - and with United already having lost four midfielders this early in the window, it's no surprise that multiple midfielders have been linked with the club, including Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong.

Christian Eriksen, a former Tottenham Hotspur player, is the latest talent to have captured Ten Hag's attention.
Eriksen, who suffered a heart collapse over a year ago at Euro 2020, has since departed Inter Milan for the more familiar surroundings of London, where he has been playing for Brentford since the end of January, where he has fitted back into his Premier League rhythm like he never left.
Eriksen scored one goal and assisted four others in 11 league appearances for the Bees, giving them the push they needed to finish 13th in their first Premier League season, helping them win seven of their final 12 games.

Ten Hag was allegedly pleased by Eriksen's ambition in training during this time, and his subsequent performances last season have further reinforced the Dutchman's view that the creator can help him fix Manchester United's current disaster.
With the aforementioned four midfielders departing, Christian Eriksen would provide Ten Hag with a brilliant alternative to the struggling Bruno Fernandes, as well as competition for both the Portuguese and Donny van de Beek, who will no doubt be on Ten Hag's mind following his incredible performances under him during Ajax's memorable Champions League run in 2019.
