Has the GOAT debate finally been settled? Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are both in their 30s and still scoring for fun, but has the GOAT debate finally been settled?

Ronaldo's incredible scoring run has continued since his return to Old Trafford, and he now has 815 goals after scoring two goals in Portugal's 4-0 win over Switzerland.

He's already the top scoring international player and won't be bothered by his Ballon d'Or omission, but where does he stand in terms of long-term career goals?

In recent years, the extraordinary Ronaldo has climbed the all-time scoring records, passing Austrian-Czech legend Josef Bican, with Messi's difficulties at PSG leaving him behind in his wake.

No one has scored more FIFA-recognized goals than the Portuguese great, who has etched his name into the history books as the all-time leading scorer.

EDGE: Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Pele - Who are the top ten most prolific goal scorers in history?

Messi moved over Ferenc Puskas and Pele to fourth place in the all-time list earlier this season, but Ronaldo is now at the top, and he did so in true CR7 fashion with a magnificent hat-trick against Spurs.

Messi, on the other hand, is now only three goals behind Romario after scoring five goals for Argentina against Estonia.

So, who else ranks among the top 10 highest goal scorers in history?

Tulio Maravilha – 1988-2019 – 575 goals (total games unknown)

A Brazilian journeyman with a keen goal-scoring eye.

Tulio's career spanned approximately 40 clubs, and he only recently retired.

9, Uwe Seeler – 1953-1978 – 575+ goals (total games unknown)

The German great scored a lot of goals for Hamburger, but he had a hard time turning them into trophies.

In his one and only debut for Ireland's Cork Celtic in 1978, he scored twice.

8. Ferenc Deak – 1940-1957 – 576+ goals (total games unknown)

During Hungary's heyday, he was one of the finest and a legend in his home country, if not the rest of the globe.

During his time at Szentlorinci AC, Deak scored almost three goals per game on average.

Gerd Muller is number seven.

1962-1981: 734 goals in 793 games

The striker's most important goal came in Germany's 2-1 victory against the Netherlands in the 1974 World Cup final in Munich.

Muller is also Bayern Munich's all-time leading goalscorer, with more than twice as many as the next greatest.

6. Ferenc Puskas, who scored 746 goals in 754 games from 1943 to 1966.

Puskas, another Hungarian legend, now has his name attached to the prize for the most beautiful goal of the year.

He made his reputation in Budapest before going on to become a Real Madrid legend.

Pele scored 757 goals in 831 appearances from 1957 to 1977.

Three-time World Cup winner and one of the greatest players of all time.

During his 656 competitive games with Santos, Pele averaged nearly a goal per game, while he claims to have scored over 1,000 goals in his career.

Hundreds of those goals, however, are largely believed to have occurred during tours or friendly matches. Pele, on the other hand, will tell you otherwise.

4. Lionel Messi (2003-present) has 769 goals in 974 games.

Messi is a great legend who has won numerous trophies for his goals at Barcelona, including seven Ballon d'Or awards.

With PSG, the Argentine has a few more years to add to his illustrious record.

He'll be eager to disprove his skeptics and deliver results that are out of this world.

From 1985 through 2007, Romario scored 772 goals in 994 games.

Romario scored five goals in the 1994 World Cup to help Brazil to victory.

He had a successful career at a lot of prestigious clubs all over the world.

2. Josef Bican – from 1931 to 1956, he scored 805 goals in 530 games.

Bican has been football's all-time best goalscorer for nearly 60 years, scoring 395 goals in 217 appearances for Slavia Prague.

However, he has now been trumped.

Although he is reported to have scored over 1,500 goals during his playing career, FIFA only recognizes 805 of them.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo (2001-present): 815 goals in 1,121 games

For Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and now the Red Devils once more, he is a modern great.

Ronaldo has won everything in the game and is still going strong today, and by surpassing Bican, he has now added the biggest record to his already illustrious career.

Ronaldo currently has an incredible 815 goals in his career, and he is far from finished.
