Mohamed Salah is considering his options as his Liverpool contract expires next summer, and the winger has been promised a free transfer to Barcelona.
Mohamed Salah's Liverpool career is at a fork in the road.
Mohamed Salah told close pals that he was eager to devote his future to Liverpool, but then changed his mind once Barcelona offered him a transfer next summer.
With his current contract set to expire next summer, the Egyptian winger is contemplating his alternatives. Salah has stated that he will remain at Liverpool next season, but it is unclear who will be his employers beyond that.
Salah has been negotiating a new contract with the Reds since last summer, but the two sides have been unable to reach an agreement as Salah demands a large pay increase. While Liverpool is hesitant to deviate from their wage structure, they remain hopeful that they can reach an agreement with him somewhere in the middle.
If Salah does not sign a new contract this summer and Liverpool does not keep him once the transfer window closes, they risk losing him as a free agent in a year's time.
This will attract interest from a number of clubs, and Mirror Football can exclusively reveal that the forward has been guaranteed a free transfer to Barcelona next summer. The forward's hesitation on a new contract is thought to be due to Barca's verbal offer.
Before Liverpool's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, Salah declared he will be back at Anfield next season. "I don't focus on the contract in my thoughts," he stated. I don't want to be self-centered in any way. It's about the team, like I said two months ago. This is a critical week for us.

"All I care about is the team and winning the Champions League once more." I'd like to see Hendo [Jordan Henderson] holding the trophy, and I'm hoping he'll give it to me. I'm not going to talk about the deal right now; I'm definitely staying next season.
Liverpool will hope that Jurgen Klopp's recent contract extension, which keeps him in charge of the Reds until at least 2026, will persuade Salah and Sadio Mane, who is in the same scenario as his teammate, to commit their futures to the club.
Klopp, on the other hand, does not believe it will be a deciding factor. "That is more of a matter for the boys, what it implies for them," he remarked, "but everything is OK, my relationship with them is excellent.
My point is that there are more essential things to consider in life than who is the manager; knowing who the management and coaching staff are is crucial since you never know what you have with other clubs where you may go.
"There are no guarantees in this industry, but I believe I will be able to stay for a little longer because other coaches are available at other clubs.
If it's a good indicator for the lads, that's terrific, but I don't think it'll be the deciding factor in whatever decision they make. It is their own life, but we just wanted to make sure that everyone who wants it may have it.
