As Roma manager Jose Mourinho is tipped to replace Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino, he has emerged as a strong contender for the job at Paris Saint-Germain
According to talkSPORT, Jose Mourinho has emerged as a strong contender to become the next manager of Paris Saint-Germain.
The French champions are rumored to be looking for a new manager, with Mauricio Pochettino expected to be fired in the coming days.
Mourinho recently led Roma to their first major European title, the Europa Conference League, and a respectable sixth-place finish in Serie A.
The former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham manager recently committed his future to the Italian club – but PSG could change his mind.
On May 25, the 'Special One' stated, "Now I am staying.
Even if some rumors circulate, I only want to stay at Roma.
Nonetheless, sources close to PSG say the Portuguese veteran is being considered as the club continues to finalize Pochettino's departure.
It would be Mourinho's second replacement of Pochettino in recent years, following the same move at Tottenham in 2019.
While PSG won the league with ease last season, their first Champions League title eluded them once more, as they were knocked out in the round of 16 by eventual winners Real Madrid.
Last summer, the Parisians signed Lionel Messi, among other high-profile players, and they still have one of Europe's most enviable squads.
France superstar Kylian Mbappe has turned down Real Madrid to sign a lucrative new contract at Parc des Princes, while Neymar will look to overcome the injury problems that plagued him last season.
Mourinho is one of the most successful managers in history, having won every award in England, Spain, Italy, and Portugal, as well as the top three prizes in Europe.
His return to glory at Roma followed disappointing spells at Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, where he was sacked.
"Luis Campos has been installed as the new sporting director, replacing Leonardo in that role," talkSPORT's European football correspondent Kevin Hatchard said.
He's a huge Mourinho fan. I'm sure he'd be tempted by a job of that magnitude and the opportunity to work with Messi and Mbappe."
