The National Democratic Congress (NDCAsante-Akim )'s South branch honored this year's June 4 Anniversary with a clean-up effort in the Ashanti Region's Obogu Constituency.
Members of the party from all around the constituency joined the executives in cleaning the streets to commemorate the day, which also happened to be the NDC's 30th anniversary.
Former President Jerry John Rawlings led the June 4 revolt in 1979, which developed from a mix of corruption, weak government, popular dissatisfaction, and miscommunication within the Ghanaian army.
Members of the NDC in the Constituency honored the 43rd anniversary of the revolution, which proponents said restored probity and accountability, with a clean-up effort in honor of their founder.
Mr Abass Nurudeen, the Regional Communications Officer, Mr Prince Arthur, the Deputy Regional Treasurer, and Mr De-graft Fokuo, a former District Chief Executive, were among the regional executives who took part in the exercise.
According to Mr Nurudeen, the NDC is a development-oriented party that has accelerated the country's progress more than any other party throughout the Fourth Republic.
It has a track record of making significant contributions to infrastructure development in areas including as health, education, roads, water, and sanitation, among others, and hence deserved a second term to serve Ghana's wonderful people, he added.
Mr Nurudeen urged members to be proud of the party's accomplishments and canvass for votes as they prepared for the 2024 election.
Mr Ibrahim Musah, the Constituency Chairman, praised the party faithful for their unwavering support in promoting party operations and asked them to continue rallying the grassroots for victory in 2024.
In the next general election, he added, the NDC would pursue 10 seats in the Ashanti Region, including the Asante-Akim South.
He urged for an unified front ahead of the "crucial election in 2024," which he described as "crucial because the NDC cannot afford to lose because it has a country to save from historic mismanagement and corruption."
