As part of its yearly camp named "Jesus Camp," 60 Minutes, a prayer ministry of the New Life Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Lapaz, gave food and toiletries to the Akropong School for the Blind.

Bags of rice, maize, cooking oil, sugar, gari, milk, cookies, beverages, washing detergents, and toilet paper were among the items provided.

Mr Daniel Kwame Ntim, who presented the goods on behalf of the ministry, said the group goes on a retreat up the Akropong mountain every year.

God pressed it hard on their hearts to give a contribution to the Akropong School for the Blind as part of their preparations for this year's event, and they chose to follow the Lord's message.

The government also provided special contributions to two of the school's longest-serving employees.

They gave the beneficiaries, a teacher named Kojo Adu and a non-teaching staff member named Kwesi Anarfo, each an envelope containing an unknown sum of money and cans of beverages.

Mr Adu thanked the government for the wonderful gesture and requested that his tenure at the school be extended by granting him a year contract so that he could help the final year students with their studies before his pension is due in August.

Mr Anarfo, on his part, expressed gratitude to the group for the donation while also pleading with the government to boost his wage, as his take-home pay is just GHS500 after all deductions.

"My monthly paycheck is 850 cedis, however after all deductions, I am only left with 500 cedis as take-home money." "It's awful to work at a school since 1983 and take home 500 cedis," he bemoaned.

Rev. Ebenezer Domson, the school's chaplain, who couldn't contain his delight as he accepted the contribution on behalf of the school, expressed his gratitude to the prayer ministry.

He said that the majority of the children come from low-income families, and that donations like these will go a long way toward helping them.
