The Green Republic has started the "Plant Your Age Campaign" as part of its mission to lead Ghana's young in overcoming the climate problem by planting 20 million trees by 2028 as part of worldwide efforts to address the issue.

Under the theme "Emerging from the Covid-19 Pandemic to Accelerated Climate Action," the campaign was launched during the 2nd Annual Climate Benefit Ball 2022. The Annual Climate Benefit Ball aims to gather cash for tree planting as a natural solution to the climate issue.

Loans, bilateral financing, money from donor countries, export credits, and multilateral agencies like the Green Climate Fund and the World Bank are some of the most common sources of funding.

These funds are mostly aimed for nations, rather than youth-led groups like The Green Republic Project and other nonprofits.

In a welcoming address, Nana Yaw Osei Darkwa, the convener of the Green Republic, praised H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for creating 'Green Ghana Day' to encourage Ghanaians, including himself, to plant trees.

He issued a clarion plea and humble appeal to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, to consider forming a dedicated Ministry for Climate Change and Global Warming to focus on the climate problem, which threatens our nation's and humanity's very survival.

H.E. Mr Sugandh Rajaram, Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, spoke at the ceremony and expressed his gratitude.

Green Republic for leading such an innovative campaign to mobilize committed young people to combat the climate crisis. The M.D. of National Lotteries, Sammi Awuku, admitted in a brief address that the single greatest threat to today's youngsters is climate change. He gave the Green Republic team the task of explaining climate change to the general population.

Many young people, he claims, will join the campaign freely if the message is more accurate and reflective of their everyday lives.

The MD designate of Republic Bank Benjamin Dzoboku informed the Green Republic of the bank's commitment to the 'Plant your Age Campaign' in acknowledgment of business organisations' reaction to help the battle against Climate Change and Global Warming.

The Plant Your Age Campaign is a unique technique that allows every individual to express gratitude to Mother Earth by planting the number of years they have spent on the planet.

The Green Republic Project is a non-profit organization located in Ghana that was created on the understanding and conviction that tree planting is the best cost-effective, nature-based option for carbon capture. We think that planting trees may play an important role in the battle against climate change and the damage it causes, such as heat waves, drought, erosion, flooding, wildfires, and human displacement, as part of a multi-faceted mitigation approach (climate refugees).

As a result, the initiative aims to bring people together to plant 20 million trees in Ghana over the next ten years, while also harnessing and monitoring the process.
