George Mfegue of Kotoko has promised to deliver more assists to teammate Frank Etouga in order for the latter to win the Ghana Premier League's top scorer award and break a long-standing record. Etouga, 20, is just one goal away from tying Ishmael Addo's 20-year-old record.
With 22 goals, the former Hearts of Oak striker is the all-time leading scorer in the domestic league. The Cameroonian presently has 21 goals; one more goal would tie him for the record, and two more goals would break it.
George Mfegue, a fellow countryman, is willing to assist him in achieving that goal.
"I'm ecstatic for Mbella. We've had several chats, and I've told him to work hard because I know the squad will back him, and I'll also provide him with the passes he needs to score," he stated on Fox FM.
The Porcupine Warriors have benefited greatly from Mfegue and Etouga's cooperation this season.
In other sports news, Tunisia won their first match in the Kirin Cup against Chile. Tunisia started their Kirin Cup campaign with a 2-0 win over Chile from South America.
Tunisia is one of the four countries competing in the Kirin Cup in 2022.
This year's competition features host Japan, Chile, Tunisia, and Ghana.
Tunisia took a 2-0 lead thanks to two goals from Ali Abdi (41) and Issam Jebali (89).The international friendly football competition is in its 21st iteration, with the previous one taking place in 2016. Japan lost 2-1 against Bosnia-Herzegovina in the final of that edition.
Ghana has been invited to compete in the event for the second time in its history, and they will face Japan.
