The Tottenham striker reached the landmark after scoring in the final seconds of England's 2-2 draw with Germany in Munich, and he was overjoyed to have joined such illustrious company.

England striker Harry Kane has expressed his joy at being only the second man to score 50 goals for the Three Lions, while simultaneously aiming for the all-time goalscoring record.

In England's 1-1 draw with Germany in Munich on Tuesday evening, the Tottenham striker scored his 50th goal from the penalty spot. After winning the penalty after a foul by Borussia Dortmund's Nico Schlotterbeck, he sent Manuel Neuer the wrong way.

The spot-kick was first denied by the referee, but the VAR requested a second look at the monitor, and the judgement was finally made. Kane, of course, kept his composure to score his 50th international goal.

He is only the second man in history to reach the milestone, and he is only three strikes behind Wayne Rooney, who holds the record. Kane stated his delight at reaching the half-century mark after the game.

"It's a pretty great sensation, you know," he remarked. In the beginning of the game, I had a couple of chances. Obviously, the first one went over the crossbar, and Neuer came up with a great save on the second.

"I thought it was just one of those days, but we kept going and perhaps played our greatest football in the final half-hour." Physically, we were quite powerful and capable of scoring the goal; it's just a bad we didn't succeed in the end.

"I enjoy scoring goals, and I've always enjoyed scoring goals for my nation." The most essential thing for me is to assist the team whenever possible. It's good to get back on track with a win today; it wasn't an easy place to visit, and now we have two games at home to attempt to earn two victories."

Despite being under pressure for the most of the match, Kane's goal won a remarkable point for Gareth Southgate's side in Munich. It also gives them their first point in the new UEFA Nations League, with a match against European champions Italy to follow at Wembley Stadium.

Despite the defeat to Hungary last time out, Kane has emphasised the necessity of maintaining positive momentum moving into the game against the Azzurri and, more importantly, the forthcoming World Cup.

"I believe it's incredibly essential to exhibit the attitude," he concluded. Even though we fell behind 1-0 tonight, we showed great spirit by clawing our way back into the game and securing a win.

"We're up against a very strong Germany team." It demonstrates where we are in terms of progress, but we're working hard, and the World Cup will be here before we know it, so we must continue to do well.
