Liverpool are looking to sign a 22-year-old to replace Sadio Mane: Manchester United has already made a €105 million bid
Despite Liverpool's interest in Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, Paul Joyce has stated that the club will not compete for him.
As speculation mounts that Sadio Mane will leave Liverpool this summer in search of a new challenge, the Reds are bracing for another bid from Bayern Munich.
Liverpool has already rejected a bid from Bayern Munich worth £21 million plus £4 million in add-ons, according to Joyce.
Joyce reported just before the Mane update that Liverpool's interest in Darwin Nunez is genuine, but they will not engage in a bidding war.
"If they decide to sell, Liverpool would demand a fee sufficient to recruit a suitable replacement," he wrote for the Sunday Times.
"There is interest in Benfica's Darwin Nez, the Uruguay striker who scored twice against Jürgen Klopp's team in the Champions League quarter-finals, but Liverpool will not pursue the 22-year-old at any cost."
Despite the fact that Anfield is more appealing right now due to Jurgen Klopp's success with the Reds, Manchester United would win any bidding war with Liverpool.
According to Correio de Manha, a Manchester United website, the Red Devils made a bid worth €75 million plus €20 million in bonuses last week.
To sweeten the deal, they allegedly offered Andreas Pereira.
Nunez is a gifted player with the potential to thrive under Jurgen Klopp.
However, he still needs to improve his decision-making and link-up play.
His finishing is unassailable because it is by far his strongest suit.
I have little doubt that if he joins Liverpool or Manchester United, he will compete for the Golden Boot.
But I'm not sure how good he'd be at knitting together play at the top of the pitch under pressure.
