The Bimbilla Government Hospital is experiencing a water deficit, which has caused surgeries to be halted.
Due to a severe lack of water supply, essential activities and services such as operations have come to a halt at the Bimbilla Government hospital in the Nanumba North District in the Northern region.
The hospital's water supply has been shut off by the Community Water and Sanitation Agency because it owes the agency GHC220,000.
Residents and stakeholders have taken notice of the situation, which is obstructing proper health care delivery, and are urging for an expedient solution to avoid unnecessary deaths and other health-related issues.
Bimbilla government hospital, according to our correspondent Joyce Kantam Kolamong, is a significant referral hospital serving the Eastern corridor and its vicinity.
As a result, the facility's water supply has been cut off, disrupting services such as surgery, deliveries, primary healthcare, and other necessities.
Nurses and other hospital employees have had to stop providing services at the facility in order to find water.
Patients at the hospital have voiced concern about the situation and have called on the right authorities to intervene.
The current development poses a significant challenge to the hospital, as it threatens to undo the district's previous victories in the fight against maternal and newborn fatalities.
Musah Ayuba, the hospital's administrator, states "All attempts to work out a solution with the Community Water and Sanitation Agency have failed."
Meanwhile, Engineer Gilbert Amoah, the Northern Regional Director of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency, says "The hospital's management has refused to heed multiple warnings, resulting in the disconnection."
Water is an essential commodity of life, so it is critical that the Community Water and Sanitation Agency and the hospital's management work together to remedy the matter.

In an exclusive interview, Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu aka Professor Kalamonia, the reelected Savannah Regional Chairman who defeated Nana Kwame Aboagye for the position of Chairman in the last election, said he has no problem working with the newly elected organiser because the party's ultimate goal is to win massively in the Savannah Region and also help break the much-discussed 8 in 2024.
He promised to bring everyone on board for victory in 2024, and he promised to secure jobs for the kids, who he said were instrumental in his second victory in the region.
