Marcus Rashford was left out of England's triple header earlier this month, and hasn't played for his country since the Euro 2020 final, putting his spot in Gareth Southgate's World Cup selection in peril.

For extended stretches of the Nations League match, the Three Lions trailed, but Harry Kane earned a point for Gareth Southgate's side with a brilliant penalty in the 88th minute, his 50th goal for his country. Rashford was left out of England's triple header this month, and he hasn't played for his country since the Euro 2020 final last summer, when he agonizingly missed a penalty in a penalty shootout.
He was out of play until last October owing to a shoulder injury, but he didn't get a call-up after that due to his poor record for Manchester United. According to ESPN, he is fighting for a spot in Southgate's World Cup team at the end of the year, with only one more international break in September to establish himself.
Rashford has been pushed down the pecking order by the likes of Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, and Jarrod Bowen, who won his first England cap against Hungary. But England's two poor performances - a loss to Hungary and a draw with Germany - have opened the way for Rashford, since few of the players who played in both games have established their place in the team.
Rashford will seek to make an early impression under Erik ten Hag next season in order to win a call-up for England's September games against Italy and Germany, when he expects to receive some playing time and impress Southgate in order to earn a spot in the World Cup team.Lianne Sanderson, a former Chelsea and Arsenal player, believes it is too late for Rashford, and that he will not make the World Cup squad because he has peaked.

On talkSPORT, she said: "He will not be attending the World Cup. I believe he has reached his limit. I adore Rashford and am a Manchester United supporter, but I believe that other players have surpassed him.
If you're not playing well, and he's not playing at all, love can only go so far. These other players are doing a fantastic job.
