Bruno Fernandes struggled in front of goal for Manchester United last season, and new research has found that he had the lowest value per goal ratio in the Premier League.
As Manchester United finished sixth in the Premier League, Bruno Fernandes struggled.
According to a recent analysis, Bruno Fernandes' goals for Manchester United last season cost £8.1 million each.
When Fernandes joined the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon in 2020, he hit the ground running. Last season, however, he struggled in front of goal as United slumped to sixth place in the Premier League.
Now, Odds Comparison has analyzed the market value of the best scorers in the Premier League and the amount of goals they have scored this season to determine who is worth the most per goal. With just 10 goals this season and a market worth of £81 million, Fernandes' goals come out to one for every £8.1 million, giving him the Premier League's worst value for money goalscorer.
According to the survey, Chelsea's Mason Mount is the second-worst value. Mount is worth £6.1 million per goal, with a market value of £67.5 million and 11 goals last season.
Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City are next at £5.8 million and £5.4 million per goal, respectively, just ahead of Arsenal's Bukayo Saka at £5.3 million. The top ten is completed by Harry Kane, Sadio Mane, Richarlison, Mohamed Salah, and James Maddison.
Mason Mount's goals last season cost £6.1 million each based on his market worth.
Mason Mount's goals last season cost £6.1 million each based on his market worth.
Last season, United paid the highest for each goal, with each one costing £11.3 million when compared to the whole value of their team, according to transfermarkt. City has the most valuable total squad at £863 million, but each goal is only worth £8.7 million, putting them in fourth place.
The Reds are preparing for a busy summer that will see some significant changes in the first-team squad, with talisman Sadio Mane said to want to leave the club.
Sadio Mane has not followed through on his promise to provide a clear update on his club future ahead to Liverpool's recent Champions League final defeat.
The Senegal international has been the subject of much speculation, with persistent reports linking him with a move away from Liverpool this summer. The fact that the Anfield favourite told reporters last month that he will provide more clarity on where he will play his football after the showpiece event against Real Madrid hasn't helped matters.
"Honestly, I think the best answer I can give you right now is that I feel very good," the 30-year-old said ahead of the game. "I am fully focused on the Saturday game, and that is the answer I must give before the final.
However, come back to me on Saturday, and I will, without a doubt, give you the best answer you want to hear." It's unique. Then I'll tell you all you want to know." It's been over a week and a half since Mane has revealed where he might be going this summer, if he'll be leaving at all.
If he really intend to stay, the Liverpool talisman may put a stop to the saga anytime he sees fit, but it appears that he will not.
