The Ghana Police Service has recommended religious organizations in the nation to put in place strict security measures to protect their operations from terrorist attacks.

Kwesi Ofori, Director-General of Police Public Affairs, said his organization will do its part, but churches and Ghanaians as a whole must pitch in.

As a result, he asked religious organizations to educate their members on the subject.

COP Kwesi Ofori said the Police Service has deployed extra officers to monitor sites that might be a target of terrorist attacks in an appearance on JoyNews The Pulse on Tuesday.

"We may advise churches to get to know their congregations. Know their members intimately and create a seating arrangement that makes it impossible for an infiltrator to enter and pose as a worshiper. And all newcomers should be welcomed and talked to, as well as go through the usual security procedures that churches conduct.

"We also suggest that churches should support security warden training to assist in this area."

The Ministry of National Security has spotted suspicious people on the slopes of Bunkprungu-Nankpanduri District in the North-East Region, it should be noted.

Similar information was acquired in the Upper East Region's Garu. The actions of these suspicious individuals are unknown at this time.

To avoid any potential security breaches, the National Security Ministry has instructed all security services to be on high alert.

Gunmen killed worshipers in Ondo state, south-west Nigeria, on Sunday, June 5. During a Sunday service, armed men stormed into St Francis Catholic Church in Owo.

Witnesses say the gunmen opened fire on the congregation and abducted a priest and many other churchgoers. Following the church attack in Ondo state last Sunday, a Nigerian journalist characterized the country as "in shock."

The attack was unexpected, according to Layo Olarinde, a Channels TV journalist who spoke on JoySMS on Monday, June 6.

This is due to the tranquil atmosphere of the state in which the incident occurred, she stated.

"Ondo state is located in Nigeria's south-western region. It is regarded as one of the country's most serene states. So the incident on Sunday was terrible, and it rocked the entire country," she remarked.
